The role of the Childcare Coordinator is to recruit, schedule, and oversee the childcare workers for all weekly small groups on campus. This will require a firm grasp of the values and strategy of the Children’s Ministry department to fulfill the mission, vision, and values of Community of Hope.

This is a part-time, 20 hours per week role.

Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's):

  • Love and passion for children and families: Passion for kids and families and providing a safe, fun environment for kids during childcare
  • Highly organized: Able to keep track of multiple groups’ schedules, meeting dates and childcare needs to ensure that safe ratios of childcare workers and children are maintained
  • People person: Work well with adults and teenagers who work as childcare workers, able to have tough conversations with truth and grace when necessary
  • Flexible and adaptable: Be prepared and able to handle last minute requests and changes with compassion and results

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Modeling Biblical Priorities: Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Community of Hope. The CD should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. The CD models a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable). The CD strives to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships and actions.

  • Committing to a daily quiet-time with God.
  • Participating in a Community of Hope small group on a regular basis.
  • Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity.
  • Developing personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
  1. Schedule weekly childcare workers: Work with the Discipleship Department to determine the schedule of groups meeting each semester and their childcare needs, as well as the current needs of the Recovery and Youth Ministries. Schedule the appropriate number of childcare workers to maintain safe ratios. In addition, schedule childcare for special events such as Partnership Gatherings, women’s events, and other ministry events as needed.
  2. Supervise and oversee childcare workers: Be present during childcare shifts to ensure proper procedures are followed and that all childcare environments meet Community of Hope’s standard of excellence. Weekly presence is required at Monday evening childcare and Wednesday morning childcare. Bi-weekly presence is required on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evenings. Presence generally required at special events.
  3. Facilitate childcare curriculum: Prepare and gather materials needed for each childcare session according to the curriculum provided by the COH Kids Director. Train childcare workers to use the curriculum in an effective and engaging manner. For Recovery, follow the same procedures using Celebration Place curriculum.
  4. Interview and train new childcare workers: Manage applications for prospective childcare workers, conduct interviews, and oversee training for newly hired workers. Complete onboarding paperwork in a timely manner for each new hire. Conduct semiannual trainings for all childcare workers.
  5. Manage rooms and supplies: Communicate with the Children’s Ministry Department regarding needed supplies such as snacks, cleaning products, and classroom materials. Ensure all rooms used for childcare are maintained in excellent condition.
