Position Summary:
The Public Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring public safety and customer satisfaction for external and internal customers by making regular and routine rounds of the facility to ensure that the facility is secure and safe. Following all safety and emergency procedures, directing traffic, holding assigned posts, providing assistance and information to customers, and other duties as described below
Shifts vary are are scheduled at the Manager's discretion.
This role pays an hourly rate of $21.91 (per CBA).
Benefits as per the union agreement.
This position will remain open until July 17th, 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Greet all patrons and provide information regarding events, shows, and facility.
- Challenge unauthorized personnel in restricted areas.
- File written reports of incidents on shift.
- Take appropriate, prescribed actions in the event of an emergency.
- Follow and enforce established safety and security procedures.
- Follow and enforce established code of conduct.
- All duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Make regular and routine rounds of facility noting and correcting unsafe or insecure conditions.
- Ensure orderly operations in parking garage as assigned by directing traffic and assisting patrons.
- Provide friendly and helpful service to all customers, clients, the public and other employees.
- Complete and file accurate and detailed reports on activity during shift.
- Take further and immediate action to correct conditions as needed.
- Collect parking fees using computerized systems.
- Complete and file accurate and detailed cash-handling logs and reports according to established cash-handling protocols.
- Bid all patrons a friendly farewell, a safe journey home, and thank them for visiting, as they leave the parking garage.
- Attend department meetings.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the work environment.
- Clean equipment and store neatly in proper location.
- Be flexible in accepting daily assignments/ duties.
- Complete tasks timely and effectively.
- Follow event calendar and resumes and weekly schedules.
- Complete other duties as assigned by Sergeant/Supervisors and Public Safety Manager.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Previous experience as a Security Guard, Cashier or similar preferred.
- Flexibility to work required hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Capable of oral and written communications skills.
- Basic computer skills including navigating keyboard and simple data entry.
- Must respond well to direction, able to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and to follow procedures and policies under pressure and in emergency situations.
- Understanding of safety awareness.
- Ability to communicate and follow both written and orally instructions.
- Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods of time on a regular, daily basis.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions and a regular, daily basis.
