The Electronics Technician position is responsible to service, maintain and repair electronic building systems within the healthcare setting. The Electronics Technician also attends training and seeks out education opportunities to stay updated on latest technological advances for building systems.This position acts as the electronics subject matter expert and may assist with installation of new systems. This role will also repair/maintain other various electronic devices and systems located within the hospital, including televisions, nurse call, automatic beds, etc.
This position will be located at Henry Ford Main Campus- Detroit, MI.
Responsibilities:
- Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots electronic systems(such as television, nurse call, security, infant abduction, video monitoring, etc.) within the hospital to ensure proper functioning.
- Conducts routine PM’s on all electronic systems to assure minimal unscheduled repairs.
- Coordinates new project installations, involving close partnership with Facilities leadership and vendors.
- Submits service and maintenance records with building maintenance systems.
- Orders replacement parts and coordinates the delivery of these parts to the hospital.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent -required.
- Associates degree in electronics, information technology, or related field OR 5 years of experience in the electronics field -required.
Experience:
- 2 years of related electronics experience- required.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.- required.
Competencies:
- Must have excellent written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to detect electronic malfunctions and restore to normal quickly.
- Must have the ability to use electronic repair tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Must have the ability to effectively manage time complete many tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Must be able to think critically and problem-solve.
- Must respect confidentiality while working around patients, physicians, co-workers, vendors and visitors.
