Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Supervisor / Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support operations within the Adult Behavioral Health department at Woodhull Medical Center. The Nurse Supervisor will help oversee patient care, monitor staff performance, support nursing leadership, and develop programs and processes that promote quality patient care and employee performance.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and develop programs designed to improve patient care and employee performance.
- Monitor nursing and patient-care performance across assigned units.
- Assess unit operations in collaboration with Nurse Managers.
- Communicate performance concerns and assist with corrective action when necessary.
- Support the implementation of corrective action plans.
- Develop and maintain record-keeping systems related to medication errors and employee counseling.
- Monitor patient-care practices and promote compliance with established standards.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership to identify areas for improvement.
- Support the overall delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient care.
- Perform supervisory and administrative nursing functions as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.
- Active New York State RN License.
- Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through the New York State Department of Education (NYSED).
- BLS certification.
- Minimum 7 years of nursing experience.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in psychiatric/behavioral health preferred.
- Strong experience with patient care, performance monitoring, and nursing supervision.
- Ability to implement corrective actions and develop effective record-keeping systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Experience in an Adult Behavioral Health or psychiatric setting.
- Experience with program development and quality improvement initiatives.
- No on-call requirement.
