Job Opportunity – Hospice and Palliative Care RN – North Carolina
Start Date: May 4, 2026Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 8-hour days, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with rotating on-call coverage Friday-Sunday evenings (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM) every 4-5 weeks
Highlights:
- Outpatient hospice and palliative care role with approximately 5 home visits per day serving an average daily census of 63 patients
- 13-week assignment with 40-hour work weeks available; first-time travelers welcome with 2+ years of experience required
- Epic EMR experience required; comprehensive 40-hour unit orientation provided in addition to facility orientation
- Rotating on-call duties Friday-Sunday evenings only, supported by a nurse triage service to screen incoming calls according to established protocols
- Mileage reimbursement provided at IRS standard rate for home visits
- Local candidates accepted at travel rate for this assignment
Requirements:
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact license required at start)
- Current BLS certification required; Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with home health, hospice, and skilled nursing facility experience required
- Comprehensive end-of-life care skills including cultural awareness and survivorship care after treatment
- Advanced pain management and medication administration expertise required: WHO Analgesic Ladder, breakthrough dosing, pediatric dosage calculations, pain assessment using verbal and nonverbal scales, and pharmacologic/non-pharmacologic interventions
- Strong symptom assessment and management skills including altered mental status, anorexia/cachexia, aphasia, constipation/diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, and pressure ulcer staging
- Professional competencies in goal setting with patients and families, intake assessments, Medicare/state regulations, patient/family education, and preventive care techniques
- Epic charting system experience required
