Location:The Society operates a hybrid working model with a combination of remote and in-person (Dublin office) working

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead and deliver strategic transformation initiatives across the Irish Cancer Society. This role will lead the organisation through a large systems transformation project aimed at enhancing our organisational effectiveness and impact.

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying opportunities for transformation, shaping future-state operating models, and delivering large-scale change initiatives, including but not limited to CRM transformation and optimisation.

They will work collaboratively across departments to ensure solutions are aligned with organisational strategy and deliver meaningful outcomes for stakeholders.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong experience in complex organisational environments, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of end-to-end transformation programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Transformation Programme & Delivery
  • Work with technology teams to translate systems migrations/updates into business transformation initiatives that improve organisational effectiveness and service delivery;
  • Lead the design and delivery of these transformation initiatives across business units – fundraising, services etc;
  • Work with cross functional teams to identify opportunities to modernise processes, systems, and operating models across the organisation;
  • Develop and implement transformation roadmaps aligned with organisational strategy and priorities;
  • Ensure initiatives deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, service quality, and organisational capability;
  • Work closely with all teams to ensure systems effectively support business processes and organisational needs;
  • Support the selection, implementation, or optimisation of digital platforms and tools;
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks to the project milestones, providing clear and timely updates to senior stakeholders;
  • Effectively manage the programme budget and work with programme steering committee to ensure solid financial management of same.
Business Process Improvement
  • Work with our Business Analyst and others to analyse current-state processes and identify opportunities for process optimisation and simplification;
  • Design and implement future-state business processes that enable improved performance and scalability;
  • Introduce best practices in process mapping, continuous improvement, and operational excellence, at all levels of the organisation.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with senior leaders and operational teams to understand challenges and opportunities for improvement;
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure transformation initiatives are effectively adopted;
  • Communicate transformation goals, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders across the organisation.
Change Management
  • Ensure effective change management approaches are embedded across transformation initiatives;
  • Ensure there are effective communication plans in place to support the change management effort across the organisation;
  • Support teams through transitions to new processes, systems, and ways of working;
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

The Person

You will be a strategic thinker with a practical delivery mindset, with strong communication skills and a comfort in navigating complex organisational structures and competing priorities. You will have a proactive and solutions-focused approach that is embedded in a collaborative mindset.

You will have experience in large change management projects and be willing to challenge the status quo. Most importantly, you will be committed to the Society’s mission and drive to improve the lives of people with cancer.

Experience
  • Significant experience in business transformation, operational improvement, or organisational change roles;
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale transformation programmes in complex organisations;
  • Experience with systems transformation initiatives, ideally including CRM implementation or optimisation;
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders and functions in large or complex environments.
Skills & Capabilities
  • Strong business analysis and process improvement skills;
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical transformation initiatives;
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including at senior leadership level;
  • Strong programme or project delivery capability;
  • Experience in change management and organisational adoption.
Desirable
  • Familiarity with digital transformation frameworks or methodologies;
  • Relevant qualifications in business analysis, programme management, or change management.
General
  • The Irish Cancer Society operates a no-smoking policy, and the post holder must not smoke in the office or when on Society business outside the office;
  • Be willing to occasionally work outside of normal working hours;
  • All employees are required to be aware of their responsibilities towards health and safety and to adhere to fire regulations;
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times, and compliance with the Data Protection Act is an essential requirement.
