Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an Acute Care Hospital setting, requiring 2+ years of experience and at least one completed travel assignment.
Details- Acute Care Hospital setting within the PT department
- 13-week assignment
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-4:00 PM
- Hours may flex with a later Friday start time to assist with PACU discharge coverage
- Weekend coverage required one day per month, with a comp day provided during the week
- No call requirements
- No floating requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Physical Therapy experience within the last 7 years
- BLS certification required
- MD PT state license required (compact license also accepted); license required if applicable
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
- Acute Care work setting experience required
- Experience with AROM/AAROM/PROM, assistive devices, body mechanics, pain assessment, and strength testing
- Documentation skills including assessment, discharge planning, evaluation, long and short term goal setting, plan of care, and reassessments
- Experience with cardiopulmonary, geriatric, neurologic, and oncology patient populations preferred
- Experience with COPD, CHF, CABG, and MI patient care preferred
- Experience with dementia/Alzheimer's and post-stroke rehabilitation preferred
- Orthopedic experience including hip fractures, low back pain, post-op shoulder repair, post-op spinal surgery, total hip replacement, and total knee replacement preferred
- Experience with equipment including bed alarms, call lights, crutches, hospital/specialty beds, Hoyer lifts, and rolling walkers preferred
- Skilled in home exercise program development and patient/family education preferred
- Main responsibilities include patient assessment, treatment planning, and documentation across the acute care continuum
- Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a local rate
- No more than 7 days of requested time off permitted per 13-week contract, with none allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
