We're looking for a Cardiac Catheterization Radiologist (Cath Lab Rad) for an immediate travel opening in Olympia, WA.
The right Cath Lab Rad must have 1 year of experience. Read below for additional requirements.
Cath Lab Rads assist doctors during advanced diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures such as cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular procedures, and structural heart procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Scrubbing, monitoring and assisting providers as requested.
As a Cath Lab Rad, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing the Cardiac Lab procedure rooms by ensuring adequate stock is available and in working condition, including instrument sterilization if applicable.
- Preparing patient and equipment for cardiac lab procedures by preparing site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating and setting up pressure transducers and tubing.
- Operating and ensuring the quality control of all equipment utilized in the cardiac cath lab. Knowledge of all related equipment within the laboratory.
- Scrubbing in during procedures, assisting the physician in maneuvering catheters.
- Obtaining and recording hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating-hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
- Monitoring the patient's hemodynamic status during procedures in the cardiac cath lab.
- Participating in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Cath Lab Rads should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty.
Must have 1 year of experience. The Cath Lab Rad must have BLS, ACLS, ARRT (R) -CI preferred or CCI-RCIS certification, and state specific licensing when required.
Requirements*: ARRT, 5 Years- Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
Beds: 2 procedure rooms: 1 Cath Lab, 1 IR
Experience Required: 2+ years of experience. Travelers must have at least Cath Lab experience, but Cath Lab AND IR experience is preferred. Needs to be at Level III or higher Trauma Center
Will you accept a first-time traveler? yes
Patient Types: Cath Lab (required): LHC/RHC, diagnostic, interventional, IABPs, Rotablator, STEMIs/MIs, pacemakers, gen changes, MICRAs; Impella experience preferred. No EP/ablations done at this timeIR (experience preferred, can teach): Chemo/coil embolizations, nephrostomy tubes/nephroureteral stents, central lines, ports, G/GJ tubes from scratch and exchanges, IVC filter, tunneled and temporary dialysis catheters, Inari/Penumbra/EKOS for clots, shockwave.
Will assist CT/MRI with biopsies. No Neuro IR or Y90s done here.
Hybrid (experience preferred, can teach): AAA grafts, peripheral/AO runoffs, fistulograms
Each room utilizes 3 person teamsNO CVOR backup on site, so no staged/protected PCIs/CTOs
Patient Ratios: 1:1
Required Licensure & Certifications:RT: BLS, ACLS, CVT; RCIS preferred
Skills required:RT: scrub and monitor cases, IABP experience, room turnover, transport, assist and manifold experience
Travelers must have a positive attitude, team work, and flexibility
Support on the Unit: No transporter
Scheduler will schedule casesCharge nurse or Lead Tech on any given day
Phlebotomy: 24/7
RT: 24/7
Hospitalist: 24/7
IR and Cardiologist there working during the day. On call if needed and at nightIntensivist there during the day, on call at night

Hemodynamic monitoring: Maclab
C-arms: GE
Injector: MedRad
IVUS
Floating: Tech may need to float to OR at some point to assist with vascular cases. If traveler is uncomfortable with this, manager can work around this
Scheduling:Weekend rotation: Call only
On call? 1-2 call shifts during the week, EOS until the following morning1 weekend per month, EOS Friday – Monday morning
