Staff Accountant (General Ledger)

Overview:
This position reports to the Controller and has responsibility of preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of financial information. This position will ensure proper accounting through accurate and timely recording and reconciliation of revenue and cash accounts.This role is responsible for and will be held accountable for behaving in accordance with divisional and organizational RISE values and expectations.

Responsibilities:
Essential Competencies:
- Ensures Accountability: Maintains ledger integrity.
- Manages Complexity: Handles reconciliations and journal accuracy.
- Balances Stakeholders: Supports teams with accurate data.
- Resourcefulness: Solves accounting challenges independently.
- Tech Savvy: Works in Excel and systems efficiently.
- Provide assistance with the monthly close process:
- Record e-commerce sales, store revenues and deposits, as well as Counterpoint integration.
- Record cash, receivables, lockbox donations, and Paypal transactions.
- Ensure adequate back-up documentation of recorded transactions.
- Perform monthly reconciliations- i.e., store clearing accounts, bank reconciliations, capital lease liability, and store credit liability, ensuring subsidiary to general ledger tie out.
- Maintain and update detailed documentation of key assigned tasks and processes.
- Provide assistance on maintaining and improving financial and operational systems and help with other accounting initiatives and projects.
- Adhere to internal controls as well as policies and procedures of Goodwill.
- As assigned by Controller/Director of Finance and Accounting Compliance.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- Excellent organizational skills, self-starter, detail-oriented, solutions driven, positive attitude, ability to multitask and work in an evolving accounting department is essential.
- Knowledge of various aspects of accounting related functions and software packages.
- Excellent analytical skills with great attention to detail. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Strong Financial System Skills
- Experience with D365 a plus, however not required.
- Three or more years of experience.
- Public accounting experience is a strong plus, however not required.
- CPA candidate is a plus, however not required.
