Position Overview
A critical‑access hospital in Julesburg, Colorado is seeking an experienced Travel ER RN for an 8‑week night‑shift assignment beginning 5/15, with the possibility to extend. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a rural emergency environment, is confident managing a full age range, and is comfortable working with high autonomy.
Clinical Environment- 5‑bed Emergency Department
- Patient population: birth to geriatric
- 2:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratios
- Common cases include COPD, Diabetes, CHF, Cardiac, Trauma, and general medical emergencies
- Telemetry equipment used
- No in‑house pharmacy – RN must mix their own medications
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient RN experience
- Strong ER background with cardiac and diabetic drip experience
- Active Colorado RN license at time of submission
- BLS, ACLS, TNCC (required)
- Experience with Cerner EMR
- Confident managing high‑acuity patients in a low‑resource setting
- Triage, assess, and manage emergency patients across all age groups
- Administer medications, including cardiac and diabetic drips
- Mix medications independently due to lack of in‑house pharmacy
- Perform cardiac monitoring and manage telemetry
- Support trauma cases and collaborate with EMS
- Document accurately in Cerner
- Communicate effectively with providers and interdisciplinary teams
- Maintain safety, infection control, and emergency readiness at all times
- Manager interview and offer
- Traveler must have active CO license and all required certifications on file at time of submission
