Shift: 12hr Night , 48hr/week
Facility Overview:
- 241 licensed beds
- Level III Trauma Center
- Certified Chest Pain & Stroke Center
- Non-teaching hospital
Unit Details:
- 32-bed MedSurg/Telemetry unit (average census: 28)
- Open to first-time travelers
- Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required
Patient Population:
- Post-op cases (joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder, appendectomy, amputations)
- Medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, NG tubes
Staffing Ratios:
- RNs: Days 1:4–6 | Nights 1:5–6
- CNAs: 1:10–16 (based on staffing)
Required Certifications:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Key Skills:
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone)
- Wound care, drain/tube management
- IV starts & central line management
Support Staff & Resources:
- CNAs, charge nurse, HUC/receptionist
- Phlebotomy team (except nurse draws)
- IV/VAT team
- 24/7 RT, hospitalist, intensivist
- Telemetry monitoring techs
Technology:
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
Floating Requirements:
- Required within region based on facility needs
- Travelers must be open to floating across multiple facilities
- Paid travel time if floating mid-shift
Orientation:
- New Employee Orientation (NEO)
- 2 days unit-specific training
Scheduling:
- Shifts: Days (0645–1900) | Nights (1845–0700)
- Every other weekend
- No call required
- 75% holiday commitment
- Up to 6 days RTO (excluding holidays)
- 6-week schedule cycles
