Job Description:

We are seeking a Psychologist (Diagnostician) to join our team and conduct diagnostic evaluations for individuals potentially experiencing autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In addition to conducting assessments and providing diagnostic reports, the ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supervising students, and providing them with mentorship and guidance as they develop their skills in psychological assessment and intervention.

General Job Responsibilities:

Assessment and Diagnosis:

  • Comprehensive Evaluation: Conducting thorough assessments to evaluate the child's developmental history, behavior, social interactions, communication skills, and sensory processing.
  • Diagnostic Interviews: Administering standardized diagnostic interviews to parents or caregivers to gather information about the child's developmental milestones, behaviors, and family history.
  • Observational Assessments: Observing the child in various settings, such as school, home, or clinical settings, to assess their social interactions, play skills, and behavior.
  • Psychological Testing: Administering psychological tests and measures to assess cognitive functioning, language skills, adaptive behavior, and other relevant domains.
  • Collaboration: Consulting with other professionals, such as pediatricians, educators, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, to gather multidisciplinary input and perspectives.

Formulating Recommendations:

  • Diagnostic Formulation: Integrating assessment findings to determine whether the child meets criteria for ASD or other developmental disorders, according to standardized diagnostic criteria such as the DSM-5.
  • Individualized Recommendations: Developing individualized recommendations and intervention plans based on the child's strengths, needs, and level of functioning.
  • Parent/Caregiver Guidance: Providing guidance and psychoeducation to parents or caregivers about ASD, including strategies for supporting their child's development, managing behaviors, and accessing appropriate services and resources.

Intervention and Treatment:

  • Behavioral Interventions: Recommending and implementing evidence-based behavioral interventions and strategies to address specific challenges associated with ASD, such as social skills deficits, communication difficulties, and repetitive behaviors.
  • Collaboration with Therapists: Collaborating with other professionals, such as speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior analysts, to coordinate and integrate interventions across different domains.
  • Monitoring Progress: Monitoring the child's progress over time and making adjustments to intervention plans as needed based on ongoing assessment and observation.

Employment/Contractor Structure:

  • Part-time
  • Remote work / Work From Home
  • You will receive 40% of the receivables, in accordance with a 60/40 equitable split, with payments allocated based on insurance receivables.

Job Qualifications:

Candidates must possess one of the following:

  • Licensed psychologist in Virginia
  • One to two years of experience diagnosing ASD, with postdoctoral experience being acceptable.
  • Proficiency in administering various standardized diagnostic measures and assessment tools related to ASD and intellectual disability.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in healthcare settings and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency in psychometric instruments including ADOS-2, ADI-R, CARS, GARS-2, Vineland-3, SRS-2, ABAS-3, and WISC-V.
  • Extensive knowledge of DSM-5.
  • Strong report-writing skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with families, schools, and ASD service providers.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and team skills.
