- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- American Heart Association BLS certification
- At least 1 year of surgical technologist experience in an acute care operating room (OR) preferred — perioperative or specialty OR experience a plus
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Traveler must live at least 90 miles away from the facility (typical requirement for travel healthcare jobs)
- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends and after-hours
- Function as the scrub person under the supervision of the surgeon and RN in the operating room (OR)
- Ensure the OR environment is safe, maintain sterile technique, and verify equipment functions properly
- Prepare case carts according to preference cards and procure instruments and supplies for scheduled and unscheduled procedures
- Communicate and coordinate instrumentation and turnover with operating room staff and sterile processing (SPD)
- Review daily surgical schedules to identify potential turnover delays and proactively prepare to minimize downtime
- Coordinate breaks, lunches, and delegate duties as needed to support efficient OR workflow
- Serve as a resource for procurement of specialty instruments and supplies for diverse surgical specialties
- Maintain patient confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate strong teamwork and emotional intelligence
- Adhere to physical requirements including lifting, standing, walking, and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemicals
