Medical Assistant – Contract-to-Hire

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:45 AM–5:30 PM
Rotating Saturdays: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Interview: In-person

Dress Code: Navy scrubs

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to provide direct clinical support to physicians and healthcare professionals in a busy medical practice. The Medical Assistant will assist with patient care, examinations, diagnostic procedures, specimen processing, clinical documentation, and daily office operations while maintaining high standards of patient service and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care within the established scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians, nurses, and mid-level healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, and office-based diagnostic treatments.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms promptly and prepare them for their visit.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, vision screenings, and other authorized clinical assessments.
  • Perform selected laboratory tests and other clinical procedures as directed by physicians or nurses.
  • Recognize patient needs and communicate concerns or changes promptly to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, patient-centered approach while addressing individual patient and family needs.
  • Prepare e-prescriptions for processing by pharmacies when instructed by the physician and in accordance with practice policies.
  • Inspect, clean, prepare, and process medical instruments and equipment according to manufacturer and practice guidelines.
  • Process patient specimens for laboratory transport, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
  • Verify that appropriate laboratory orders have been entered into the NextGen system.
  • Follow established clinical policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice.
  • Seek guidance from physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
  • Provide professional and courteous patient service.
  • Support other clinical and administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years of relevant entry-level work experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • 1+ year of recent Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Ability to follow established clinical procedures and work within scope of practice.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced Medical Assistant who is comfortable assisting physicians with examinations and procedures, performing basic clinical testing, processing specimens, and supporting day-to-day patient care. Candidates should demonstrate strong clinical judgment, professionalism, attention to detail, and a patient-focused approach.

Pay Details: $24.34 per hour
