Job Details- Location: Falls Church, VA 22042 — Northern Virginia / Washington, DC area
- Position: Cardiac ICU RN / Critical Care Nurse (Travel Nurse)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 1, 2026)
- Setting: Cardiac ICU (24 beds) — ratios 1:1 or 1:2; Stepdown 1:3 (CCU / CVICU experience preferred)
- Shifts: 12-hour rotating Day/Night shifts
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: 1 major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s)
- Floating: May float to other ICUs, Stepdown, Progressive Care, IMC, or Telemetry units
- EMR: Epic experience preferred
- Scrubs: Navy blue or solid white
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,110 – $2,220 (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Active RN license in Virginia or Compact State (Registered Nurse credential)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years recent, dedicated Cardiac ICU / CCU / CVICU critical care nursing experience
- Recent (within last 6 months) hands-on competency with advanced cardiac therapies and devices, including:
- VV/VA ECMO
- IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
- TTM / Arctic Sun (Targeted Temperature Management)
- Impella
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
- PA Catheter guided therapy (Swan-Ganz catheter)
- Ability to read and interpret EKG rhythm strips and manage cardiac/vasoactive drips
- Strong critical thinking, assessment skills, and ability to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
- Provide expert nursing care to critically ill cardiac patients, including cardiogenic shock, STEMI, cardiac arrest, advanced heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-procedural recovery
- Operate, manage, and troubleshoot advanced cardiac devices and therapies (ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT, TTM, PA Catheters)
- Monitor, assess, and document patient status; initiate rapid interventions and escalate per protocol
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, perfusion, respiratory therapy) to develop individualized care plans
- Float as needed to other critical care and telemetry units while maintaining high standards of patient safety
- Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR and ensure continuity of care during handoffs
- Adhere to evidence-based practices and unit protocols to promote quality outcomes
- Work in a specialized Cardiac ICU in a busy Northern Virginia hospital serving the Washington, DC region
