Background
Solar One is working with NYC Public Schools to develop a four-course curriculum for high school students, focused on Green HVAC and decarbonization as part of the Future Ready NYC program. The curriculum is being designed to eventually be recognized as an NYSED-approved CTE program in HVAC. Program objectives include:
- Steady graduation of pathway students, with strong skills in math and science
- Graduates are prepared with training, work experience, and industry credentials to pursue apprenticeship or entry-level work
- Graduates gain access to employment partners that have living-wage job titles and growth avenues
- Increased awareness of careers and skills needed to enter the green economy, especially the intersections of energy efficiency, decarbonization, and the HVAC industry.
Job Description
Solar One is seeking a consultant who is a NYSED-approved high school math teacher. The consultant will align Solar One’s interdisciplinary HVAC curriculum, currently in development, with state math and CDOS standards. Experience with standards mapping is essential.Experience working alongside NYSED-approved CTE programs is preferred. The curriculum comprises 40 units, totaling 324 hours worth of lessons.
Qualifications and Skills- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Must be a certified math teacher in NY State
- 2-3 years of work experience in teaching and curriculum design.
- Must have experience aligning interdisciplinary lesson plans to math standards
- Must be able to complete the project by the deadline of June 24.
- Background in technical subjects, such as engineering, or familiarity with CTE programs is a plus.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Suite, including Calendar, Docs, Spreadsheet, and Drive.
Pay and Benefits
This is a contractor position (remote)
We anticipate around 20 hours needed to complete the project from the hire date until June 24.
$65 per hour
