Schedule: Schedule-4x10’s with Tuesday’s off. 0630-1700

Requirements: 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience, -Certification as a Surgical Technologist.

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS).
  • Specialty -Orthopedics and Plastics

Top qualifications- Ability to work in the orthopedics and plastics service lines. Ability to scrub joints w/ revisions, spine, oncology (sarcomas, resections, etc), trauma, sports med, free/diep flaps. Ability and knowledge to work with multiple reps and systems (especially Styker and Synthes).

Job Summary:

As a member of the healthcare team, the Surgical Technologist collaborates with the surgical team to provide patient care, ensuring that patient goals are met and the hospital's mission is carried out. The role adheres to the standards of practice set forth by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) and hospital policy.

The Surgical Technologist demonstrates critical thinking skills through problem-solving and anticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical procedure.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a sterile environment, monitor for breaks in sterility, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Independently scrub cases with expert proficiency for specialty and/or generalist case mixes.
  • Utilize appropriate resources to provide safe, effective, and fiscally responsible service.
  • Apply surgeons' preference lists to determine instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
  • Use standardized set-ups when applicable and update preference changes with the Service Coordinator.
  • Advocate for the patient in the intraoperative environment and ensure proper use of instrument tracking systems.
  • Assist with room setup, positioning, and turnover of the OR suite in collaboration with the Circulating RN.
  • Act as a resource for surgical personnel and independently handle on-call cases in assigned specialties.
  • Inspect and prepare surgical instruments for sterilization and escalate repair issues as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing educational activities, share findings with peers, and assist in evaluating competency levels of new staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of departmental supplies and equipment and support cost-saving initiatives.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with surgical schedules to support patient care needs and uphold professional conduct standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist (including Surgical Technician or Surgical Extern experience).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS).
