Job Summary:
Facility's Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate and specialized Psychiatric RN for their Children’s Crisis Intervention Unit (CCIU). This role is focused on acute stabilization for children and adolescents experiencing severe psychiatric crises.You will function within a "Team Nursing" model, collaborating closely with physicians and social workers to manage acute symptoms and facilitate safe discharge planning. This is a high-acuity environment requiring strong clinical judgment and the ability to maintain a therapeutic milieu for young patients in distress.
Key Responsibilities- Team-Based Nursing: Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings with physicians to adjust treatment plans based on real-time clinical observations.
- Crisis Stabilization: Monitor and intervene in acute psychiatric episodes, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, and aggressive behaviors in a pediatric population.
- Discharge Coordination: Work alongside social workers to ensure patients have appropriate community resources and follow-up care established prior to discharge.
- Medication Management: Safely dispense psychiatric medications utilizing Omnicell and maintain meticulous records in Epic.
- Therapeutic Communication: Provide age-appropriate emotional support and education to both the patients and their families during high-stress intervention periods.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of Psychiatric RN experience is required. Previous experience in pediatric or adolescent psych is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Active New Jersey (NJ) State RN License.
- Certifications: * AHA BLS (Required).
- Handle with Care or CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification is typically required for this setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Epic EMR and Omnicell is mandatory.
- Note: No IV certification is required for this specific unit.
