Loss Mitigation Underwriter
This position comes with the authority to disposition modification applications through approval or denial decision based on investor/insurer guidelines and may maintain contact with the borrower throughout the Loss Mitigation process or resolution of the default.
- This position is responsible for receiving all written and verbal borrower assistance packages received by the loss mitigation department and reviewing for completeness, as well generating required letters to the borrower based on regulatory or state requirements.
Skill/Experience/Education
Mandatory
2 to 4 year degree or equivalent training and/or work experience in a related role 1-2 years Loss Mitigation or underwriting experience 2-3 years’ experience calculating income derived from various sources, including wage earner, self-employed, and fixed-income borrowers.Thrives in changing business environment, flexible and committed Strong time management and organization skills, fast learner, self-motivated, and comfortable taking initiative and handling several priorities simultaneously Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to work within time constraints Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s Degree or higher is preferred or equivalent training and/or work experience in a related role 4 years Default Mortgage servicing experience 2-3 years Loss Mitigation underwriting experience Experience with SMDU, HSSN, WP2, FHA Connection, and Valeri Investor (Fannie May, Freddie Mac, etc.) knowledge is preferred. Knowledge of RESPA is preferred.
