Salary: $52,540.80 - $83,116.80
Starting salary will generally start at the lower end of thesalary range, DOQ
For lateral transfers starting salary will be based on yearsof service and qualifications on a year for year basis.

GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a wide variety of working-level firefighting dutiesrelated to protecting the life and property of City residents.
SUPERVISIONRECEIVED
Works under the close supervision of the Fire Chief or FireCaptains.

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

- Responds to fire alarms and

- Performs salvage operations
- Responds to and renders
- Cleans and inspects equipment

- Keeps fire station, equipment,

supply, unusual hazards, and related items;
- Performs various public

records management systems;
- Performs all work duties and
- Respond to specialized
technical rescues that may include high and low angle, swift water, trench, and collapse rescues;

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS
- Education
and Experience:
A. Graduation from high school or equivalent:- Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of firefighting methods, techniques, andprocedures; firefighting equipment types and varieties and their most
appropriate and effective use; equipment and maintenance and care; state and
city codes, laws, and regulations, and ordinances related to fire prevention; fire vehicle equipment; emergency medical techniques and procedures and possessstrong interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to follow detailed verbal or written work instruction; work
in dangerous emergency situations; perform strenuous physical labor; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; assimilate modern fireprevention and firefighting skills; perform under extreme weather conditions; work on-call and on-shift work; develop effective working relationships with
supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.
- Special Qualifications:
License.
Must be State Firefighter I and IIcertified.
Must be Utah Advanced EMT.
Must be Hazmat Operations andAwareness certified.
Must be Apparatus Operatorcertified within two years of hire.
Must be Apparatus Aerial certifiedwithin two years of hire.
Must be a Fire Inspector or CompanyInspector certified within two years of hire.
Must be Wildland Firefighter Iwithin one year of hire.
Preference will be given toTechnical Rescue certifications.
- Work Environment:
performed in a controlled environment but are subject to all seasonal and
weather extremes. Emergency response
travel is expected in the normal course of performing duties. Many functions of the work pose a high degree
of hazard uncertainty. Physical
readiness and conditioning may be a condition of job retention. Various levels of mental application are required, i.e., memory for details, emotional stability, discriminating thinking, creative problem solving, and continuous use of motor skills.
