Plastics Molding Process Engineer
Design and implement injection molded automotive parts manufacturing process improvements in productivity, quality, cost and budget compliance.
*** Develop plan to improve quality and reduce cost of molded components.
*** Establish robust injection molding and robotic process window and acceptable process variations for new jobs using Scientific and Decoupled Molding techniques including design of experiment.
*** Determine key process input variables (KPIVs) and key process output variables (KPOVs) for each component.
*** Specify equipment required in molding cells including molding presses, robots, end of arm tooling, hot runner controllers, water temperature controllers, material loaders, weigh blenders, dryers, inspection equipment, etc.
*** Provide technical guidance for mold and hot runner design.
*** Execute factory acceptance tests at mold vendors.
*** Establish documentation requirements for processes including process sheets, database for set-up information, special notes, etc.
*** Create and administer training programs for Process and Mold Setup Technicians on new equipment.
*** Ensure technical issues are resolved to meet production schedule.
*** Manage sampling program including new mold sampling, material samples, engineering changes, etc.
