Journeyman Electrician (US Citizen)- Chantilly, Virginia - 20625 with Security Clearance
Run new circuits, test, and commission systems to support ongoing operations and equipment upgrades. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications to determine proper design, installation, and configuration.
Ensure appropriate wire gauge, grounding, and protective devices are selected and installed in compliance with NEC and Virginia state electrical codes. Conduct routine testing, inspections, and preventive maintenance of electrical infrastructure to ensure continuous operation in a 24/7 environment.
Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and service requests, minimizing downtime in this critical facility. Document work performed, including materials used, test results, and compliance checks. Collaborate with facilities, engineering, and laboratory staff to support projects and ensure minimal disruption to lab operations.
Able to respond to after hours emergency calls when necessary and provide guidance to on- site staff when needed.
Qualifications Active Journeyman Electrician License in the state of Virginia (required).
Minimum of 4+ years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, preferably in critical environments (medical, hospital, lab, or data center).Strong knowledge of NEC, Virginia electrical codes, and safety regulations.
Proven ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
Experience running conduit, pulling wire, terminating panels, and installing distribution equipment.
Familiarity with emergency power systems, UPS, and generator-backed facilities (preferred).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to urgent facility needs.
