CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel RN) — 13-week contract in Upper Marlboro, MD (20774). Seeking an experienced Cardiac ICU nurse to provide immediate post-op critical care in a high-acuity Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit near the Washington, D.C. metro area.

- Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:30 - 20:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit / Specialty: CVICU / Cardiac ICU (8 beds, adult/geriatric population)
- Patient Ratio: 1:2 (1:1 for first 12 hours post-op)
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
- Floating: Required to IMC and within specialty as needed
- Job Type: Travel RN / Contract — CVICU RN jobs / travel nurse positions in Maryland
- Minimum 1 year of recent CVICU / open heart experience (2+ years preferred) — experience with cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve procedures, TAVR)
- Travel RN experience required (previous travel nurse or contract RN experience preferred)
- Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license accepted
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Ability to float within hospital and specialty units (IMC 1:3 when floating)
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Local candidate policy: must reside at least 50 miles from facility
- 2 satisfactory professional references from most recent employers
- Provide immediate post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients (CABG, valve repair/replacement, TAVR, LVAD/Impella post-op support)
- Manage advanced cardiovascular and critical care equipment: FloTrac, CRRT, IABP, Impella, ventilators, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Monitor and manage arterial and central lines, groin/radial artery sites, and titratable cardiac drips
- Administer blood products, emergency medications, and procedural sedation per protocol
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs), dysrhythmias, and perform EKG/ECG interpretation relevant to critical care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including cardiothoracic surgery, ICU physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
- Maintain infection prevention protocols and implement isolation precautions
- Participate in unit self-scheduling and work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
