Overview:

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer, the Clinical Director of Education Services is responsible for the clinical oversight of St. Joseph’s Villa’s educational programs.

In collaboration with the Director of Education and within a systems-based framework, this role ensures adherence to the highest professional ethical standards and alignment with St. Joseph’s Villa’s mission, values, and guiding principles. The Clinical Director identifies and implements clinical models and services within the Villa’s schools and provides direct oversight of all educational clinicians, including BCBAs, clinicians, speech-language pathologists, registered behavior technicians (RBTs), behavior specialists, and behavior interventionists.

This role co-leads the Villa Education Center and Dooley School with the Director of Education.

The Clinical Director guides clinical work in a team-based environment, establishes and maintains relationships with community resources, and serves as an advocate for students and the Villa in the community.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions
  • Leads the clinical direction of Education Services, ensuring efficacy and fidelity of service delivery grounded in Applied Behavior Analysis, psycho-educational frameworks, and other appropriate models.
  • Conducts fidelity checks, collects and analyzes data, and performs regular programmatic observation.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Education to recommend changes to operational direction, treatment approaches, health and safety standards, and overall service vision.
  • Establishes and enforces standards for quality of care and evaluates staff performance to ensure appropriate accountability.
  • Identifies and evaluates methods for tracking student progress—academic, behavioral, social, and emotional—within approved clinical models.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors student data collection procedures to ensure accuracy, integrity, and ethical standards.
  • Leads and debriefs clinical emergencies and ensures appropriate intervention and reporting (e.g., CPS/APS, hospitalization, high-risk behaviors).
  • In conjunction with the Director of Education, approves recommendations for student admissions and discharges based on clinical and educational fit.
Clinical Integrity & Oversight
  • Evaluates work processes, staffing levels, staff qualifications, training needs, and available resources for continuous quality improvement.
  • Upholds standards for student safety in all settings.
  • Advises school teams on treatment issues, including potential direct clinical intervention.
  • Consults with Villa leadership on effective allocation of resources supporting student needs.
Supervision & Training
  • Supervises clinical staff and provides recommendations for hiring, training, scheduling, discipline, promotion, and termination.
  • Implements and monitors a comprehensive supervision framework for licensed and license-eligible professionals, interns, and practicum students.
  • Develops and facilitates in-service trainings to strengthen staff competencies in clinical, ABA, and therapeutic practices.
  • Collaborates with and participates in community-based training opportunities and resource networks.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Supports licensing, certification, and accreditation processes by ensuring accurate documentation and consistent monitoring.
  • Maintains high standards of clinical documentation.
  • Oversees and ensures effective implementation of VAISEF standards across all educational programs.
Outcome Measures & Reporting
  • Establishes coordinated standards and benchmarks for outcome evaluation.
  • Approves and monitors outcome measures to assess client progress and the overall effectiveness of services.
  • Reviews and approves all logic models and ensures alignment with quarterly reporting templates.
  • Authorizes the use of clinical assessment tools for Education Services.
  • Ensures personal professional development and compliance with all licensing and continuing education requirements.
  • Promotes staff development through training that meets mandated standards, builds clinical skillsets, and supports career advancement.
  • Represents the Villa in community initiatives and collaborates with agencies supporting student needs.
  • Participates in regular on-call rotation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Requirements
  • Master’s degree in a human services-related field.
  • Must hold one of the following valid Virginia licenses:
  • Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • National Certified Counselor (NCC)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Licensed Psychologist
  • Minimum of 5 years counseling/therapeutic experience with relevant populations.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and internet research tools.
