Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III NICU position in Washington, DC, requiring at least 3 years of NICU experience and proficiency with vents, oscillators, and micro-preemies.

Details
  • Level III NICU in a hospital setting
  • Neonatal patient population ranging from 23 weeks gestation to 4 months of age, primarily admitted from labor and delivery
  • Conditions treated include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome
  • Services provided include noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, high frequency oscillation, and nitric oxide inhalation therapy
  • Night shift: 7p–7a, 3x12s (36 hours/week)
  • On-call is required for this position
Requirements
  • Active DC RN license required (no pending licenses)
  • Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), NRP, and STABLE
  • CPI certification is required for this position
  • Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
  • Level III NICU experience required, including experience with vents, oscillators, pressors, and micro-preemies
  • US SSN required
  • Valid government-issued photo ID and date of birth required for consideration
  • Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the previous 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer
Additional Information
  • Nurses respond to neonatal emergencies, providing assessment and immediate care to newborns post-delivery and attending all C-sections and high-risk deliveries
  • Bedside procedures include peripheral IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, percutaneous catheter insertions, parenteral therapy, blood product administration, bronchopulmonary hygiene, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring
  • Parent teaching is a component of the nursing role on this unit
  • Most diagnostic services are provided at the bedside
  • Candidates must reside more than 25 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
  • All certifications submitted must be from the American Heart Association (AHA)
