Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level III NICU position in Washington, DC, requiring at least 3 years of NICU experience and proficiency with vents, oscillators, and micro-preemies.
Details- Level III NICU in a hospital setting
- Neonatal patient population ranging from 23 weeks gestation to 4 months of age, primarily admitted from labor and delivery
- Conditions treated include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome
- Services provided include noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, high frequency oscillation, and nitric oxide inhalation therapy
- Night shift: 7p–7a, 3x12s (36 hours/week)
- On-call is required for this position
- Active DC RN license required (no pending licenses)
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), NRP, and STABLE
- CPI certification is required for this position
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required
- Level III NICU experience required, including experience with vents, oscillators, pressors, and micro-preemies
- US SSN required
- Valid government-issued photo ID and date of birth required for consideration
- Two manager or supervisor references preferred, verifying experience within the previous 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer
- Nurses respond to neonatal emergencies, providing assessment and immediate care to newborns post-delivery and attending all C-sections and high-risk deliveries
- Bedside procedures include peripheral IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, percutaneous catheter insertions, parenteral therapy, blood product administration, bronchopulmonary hygiene, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring
- Parent teaching is a component of the nursing role on this unit
- Most diagnostic services are provided at the bedside
- Candidates must reside more than 25 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
- All certifications submitted must be from the American Heart Association (AHA)
