Senior Wastewater Process Engineer

In this role you will be responsible for leading process engineering elements for wastewater treatment projects that span planning, design, construction and operations-related activities.

What you’ll do:
- Lead process engineering elements for wastewater treatment projects than span planning, design, construction and operations-related activities.
- Equally important and integral to this role are the skills and experience required to develop the wastewater treatment area of our core Water practice and mentor young professionals.
- Projects will include studies, assessments, preliminary and detailed design of wastewater treatment facilities. Responsibilities will include leading process planning, analysis, optimization and design activities and supporting cost estimating, specifications and contract document preparation and commissioning activities.
- This role will also involve client liaison as well as supporting project pursuit teams in business development activities such as proposal preparation. In addition, you will contribute to topical marketing through activities such as conference presentations.
- You will be responsible for leading process engineering elements for wastewater treatment projects that span planning, design, construction and operations-related activities. Equally important and integral to this role are the skills and experience required to develop the wastewater treatment area of our core Water practice and mentor young professionals.
- An undergraduate degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering from an accredited university
- A graduate degree in environmental engineering from an accredited university with wastewater treatment process-based thesis research
- Eligibility for professional licensing with applicable provincial association (e.g. PEO, APEGBC, APEGGA)
- Minimum 10 years’ professional experience
- Application and use of treatment facility process simulators (e.g. BioWin, GPSX) and development of wastewater/recycle stream characterization programs
- Conduct of process stress-testing programs and treatment performance evaluation / demonstration projects
- Development of process designs and conduct of process alternatives evaluations across a wide range of unit processes used in treatment and/or resource recovery
- Previous experience working in a consulting engineering environment
- Effective project leadership, management, and organizational skills, including an ability to manage competing priorities
- Committed team player with experience working with diverse teams, including managers, engineers, and operations and maintenance staff.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal and presentation skills with an ability to effectively engage audiences, as well as an ability to clearly summarize findings and offer meaningful insight
- An orientation towards client service, including the ability to elicit and understand client needs and desired outcomes
- Regular conference attendee and speaker
