Overview

In this position you will apply your technical knowledge to evaluate existing buildings and design solutions for the complex and unique problems of our clients. Projects will include a mix of residential, multi-family, and commercial projects, with an emphasis on repair of damage from fire, wind, flood, and impacts, as well as adaptive reuse of older buildings, and enhancements to existing facilities to accommodate changes in use and implementation of equipment and machinery.

You must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and be detail orientated. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist in performing condition assessment of multi-residential, commercial and institutional facilities and preparation of reports and reserve fund studies
  • Perform field investigation work and the diagnosis of building problems required to design exterior envelope remediation including exterior wall, fenestration, roof and/or structural remediation
  • Assist in performing leak investigations of all aspects of building envelope: roofs, walls windows and foundations
  • Assist in carrying out field review of construction work in progress on both new and restoration projects and report on progress and the contractor’s adherence to contract documentation
  • Light AutoCAD support and specification writing
  • Project management and contract administration
Required Education and Certifications
  • Must be working towards completion of a degree or diploma in an engineering or technology program with a focus on Architectural, Building Science, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering

Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements

Physical Demands - Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client’s office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, walk on slope roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics and crawl under homes and tunnels, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites.

Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking and interacting with clients, preparing written reports of findings, and testifying in deposition or trial. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

Overtime - This position is classified as exempt. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.

Travel Requirements – This position requires up to twenty-five to fifty percent travel. Out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required.
