About the Role

This role can be performed anywhere within the United States.

The Data Analyst will be part of a growing team in our Law360 newsroom, helping to conduct surveys, research and rankings that support our efforts to report on the legal industry. The Data Analyst will support the accurate, timely, relevant and efficient delivery of that research, and will work collaboratively with editors, reporters and graphic designers to analyze the results of the team's surveys.

The analyst will also work on data management, cleaning and verification. The analyst will employ statistical methods to help improve analyses and data usage. Training will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Help conduct surveys
  • Help develop the methodologies used in annual reports and rankings from survey data
  • Collaborate with editors on research projects, based on surveys and publicly available data
  • Help create data visualizations based on surveys and publicly available data
  • Participate in drafting and presenting key research findings to reporters and editors
  • Combine, clean and verify data from multiple sources
  • Help manage our data set. Work with a wide range of stakeholders in Editorial and IT with regard to data management.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of related experience, including in data management, cleaning, and analysis. Relevant coursework may count toward this experience.
  • Legal industry research experience preferred but not required
  • A good teammate, collaborator and relationship builder who can also work independently
  • Expertise using quantitative analytical tools
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., Pivot Tables)
  • Familiarity with Python and/or R programming
  • Experience with data visualization techniques
  • Experience working with data of varying quality and from varying sources
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas to a wide range of audiences
  • Familiarity with survey research methodologies is preferred
  • Familiarity with Databricks is preferred

Salary: $72,500/annually
Primary Location Base Pay Range: Home based-Ohio $16,300 - $27,200.

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $17,100 - $28,700. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.

  • $30,100. Base Pay Range for Chicago, IL is $18,900
  • $31,500. Base Pay Range for MD is $18,000
  • $30,100. Base Pay Range for NY is $18,900
  • $31,500. Base Pay Range for New York City is $20,600
  • $34,400. Base Pay Range for Rochester, NY is $17,100
  • $28,700. Base Pay Range for OH is $16,300
  • $27,200. Base Pay Range for NJ is $19,481- $31,119.
