We are seeking a patient-centered and compassionate Hospice Registered Nurse to provide high-quality end-of-life care in the Greater Lake Charles area. This role follows a 7 on / 7 off-style rotation, delivering consistent, supportive care to patients and their families while working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.
The ideal candidate demonstrates flexibility, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to comfort-focused care.
Schedule & Work Details:
- Location: Greater Lake Charles area
- Schedule: 7 on / 7 off rotation (averaging 6 full working weeks over a 13-week assignment)
- Monday through Friday: 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Weekly Guarantee: 40 hours
- On-Call/Weekend Requirement: Yes, included in rotation
- Mileage Reimbursement: Yes, between patient visits (first to last patient)
- Pay Rate: $51 to $53 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to hospice patients in their homes or care settings
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition
- Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Provide symptom and pain management to ensure patient comfort and dignity
- Deliver emotional support and education to patients and families regarding disease progression and end-of-life care
- Coordinate care with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and other team members
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation using EMR systems
- Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled and respond to patient needs as required
Required Qualifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Prior hospice nursing experience required
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently in a field-based setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB)
- Patient-centered approach with a compassionate bedside manner
- Positive, flexible, and team-oriented attitude
- Strong communication and organizational skills
