Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Transplant ICU position requiring a DC RN license in hand prior to start, with at least 2 years of ICU specialty experience.
Details- Work setting is an acute care hospital Transplant ICU (S44)
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend (EOW) required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Patient ratio is 1:2
- 13-week contract
- Active DC RN license required in hand prior to start date; a pending DC license may be accepted for a later start date, but proof of pending status must be provided
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU specialty experience required
- Required experience includes: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, chronic/acute renal failure, IV therapy, CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, post-neurosurgery management, spinal cord injury, TBI, respiratory/thoracic care, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy, and surgical wounds with drains/wound vac
- Proficiency in central line care, arterial line management, PICC line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, and titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips
- Two supervisor references from within the past 2 years required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- This is a Transplant ICU position; transplant experience is preferred
- Candidates must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms prior to clearance
- Post-craniotomy care, Swan-Ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring, and chemotherapy administration are preferred skills
- Nurses with previous employment at this health system must have been separated for a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler
- Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a different rate
- No RTO is permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment; no more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract, and all RTO requests must be submitted upfront
- Facility-specific compliance modules must be completed within one week of signing the contract
