Director, D365 Finance & Operations - Technical Architecture
The Director of D365 Finance & Operations (F&O) Technical Architecture is responsible for defining, leading, and governing the enterprise architecture strategy for Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O across the organization. This role ensures the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performing ERP solutions that enable business growth and operational excellence.
As a senior technology leader, the Director owns the end-to-end technical architecture of the D365 F&O platform, including integrations, environments, extensibility, and DevOps practices. This individual partners closely with business and IT leaders to translate strategic priorities into robust, future-ready solutions while building and mentoring a high-performing architecture and engineering organization.
This position reports to the Vice President, Products & Application Development.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Enterprise Architecture
- Define and own the enterprise architecture vision and roadmap for D365 F&O and related platforms.
- Establish and govern architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices for development, integration, and data.
- Serve as the technical authority for all D365 F&O initiatives, ensuring alignment with long-term business and technology strategy.
- Provide architectural leadership for ERP transformation programs, including implementations, upgrades, and continuous optimization.
- Architect end-to-end D365 F&O solutions across finance, supply chain, and operations domains.
- Guide teams on configuration versus customization decisions, minimizing technical debt and aligning with Microsoft best practices.
- Define design standards for complex integrations between D365 F&O and enterprise systems.
- Ensure solutions meet required standards for scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
- Define and oversee environment strategy and lifecycle management using Dynamics Lifecycle Services (LCS).
- Lead adoption of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern release management practices.
- Establish governance for code quality, branching strategies, and automated deployments.
- Partner with business leaders to align ERP capabilities with operational and financial objectives.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for executive and non-technical stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted advisor across IT and business functions.
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of architects and senior engineers.
- Provide technical oversight across onshore and offshore delivery teams.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with the D365 F&O product roadmap, new features, and emerging technologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, reduce costs, and modernize architecture.
- Drive innovation through automation, cloud-native patterns, AI-enabled capabilities, and platform enhancements.
