zOS System Administration
Strong hands-on experience as a zOS System Administrator.
Installation, configuration, and administration of zOS operating systems.
Experience with zOS architectures, GDPSSysplex setup and maintenance.
Strong hands-on IPLPOR procedures and Automation.
Virtualization & Hardware Management
Good knowledge in mainframe hardware and associated peripherals.
Experience with HMC, HCD and associated IBM tools.
Understanding of IBM Power Systems hardware architecture.
OS Installation, Upgrades & Patching
Execute zOS version upgrades, technology level updates and fix pack installations.
Apply security patches and maintenance updates in line with change management practices.
Experience with SMPE, UserMods and related tooling.
Security & Compliance
Strong knowledge in RACFACF2 to audit the privileges.
Perform OS-level security hardening.
User and group management.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security and audit requirements.
Storage & File Systems
Experience in DASD storage management and tools DFHSM, SAVRS and dispatch tools. Hands-on experience with IBM GPFS. Exposure to SAN storage concepts and disk management. Automation & Tools Strong knowledge in REXX, CLIST, JCL, OMVS, TWS, CA7, OPC, Control-M.Strong knowledge in IBMISV Utilities, Tools OMEGAMON, Mainview, Sysview. Experience in PARMLIB and PROCLIB concatenation, customization and maintenance. Process & Environment Sound knowledge of ITIL processes: Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management.
Experience working in a Remote Infrastructure Support environment. Ability to articulate technical issues clearly to cross-functional teams. Disaster Recovery Support Sound knowledge on setup and performing disaster recovery exercise. Experience in disaster recovery setup and conducting DR drills.
Good to Have Hands-on experience on any of the other UNIX flavors Redhat Linux. Hands-on experience on Ansible. Experience in Value Add services such as MIPS Optimization, Software rationalization, Specialty Engines.
Roles & Responsibilities
Day-to-day zOS operations support across production and non-production environments.
Troubleshooting OS, performance, storage, and file system-related issues.
Regular health checks and preventive maintenance activities.
Review documents on regular basis to maintain AS IS processes and procedures as current as possible.
Build relationships with customers and SMEs at customers site and with hardware vendors & support teams.
Plan and support Version Upgrade, Operating system and tools installation.
Track the delivery and enforce SLA including vendors.
Capacity planning and system performance tuning.
Track all escalations and bridge the gaps accordingly through action items.
Draft policies in consultation with clients and workload as per business need through ITIL framework.
Create, update and maintain SOPs and operational documentation.
Identify industry best practices and propose environment improvement and remediation plans.
Support audit, security reviews, and disaster recovery activities.
Ensure System Availability as per SLA and own the mainframe service delivery.
Support on all in-flight and upcoming project activities.
