Place of Performance: The Medical Assistant services will be performed on-site in the Health Services Department at the Federal Detention Center in Miami, FL 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 6:00am-2:30pm. You must pass mandatory background, credit check and drug screening.
Pay: $26.05 per hour.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 6:00am-2:30pm.
Education and Experience:
- The Medical Assistants shall possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience in a medical setting. The individual must maintain current Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- The Medical Assistants is required to hold all applicable and current professional licenses, certifications, and credentials in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Description of Duties:
- Provide nursing care to include, taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, assisting physician assistants (PA's) and physicians in clinical activities.
- Draw blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes.
- Collect and process Urinalysis.
- Operate the EKG machine, and other special medical apparatus and equipment within the HSU.
- Will assist PAs and visiting clinical specialty consultants in the management and coordination of patient flow through the chronic care clinic, optometry and general clinics when scheduled.
- Will assist primary providers in the urgent care room when necessary.
- General nursing duties.
- Receive the adults in custody (AIC) passes, pull, file and copy medical records and maintain supplies in all exam rooms.
- Screening eye exams and assisting physicians and mid-level practitioners in minor surgical cases.
- Maintain daily sick call list.
- Administer treatments/procedures such as nebulizer, ear lavage, and other routine procedures and prepare and administer medications with physician authorization.
- Performs daily pill pass to the AIC as needed and designated by the clinical director.
- Performs any other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the HSA, ASHA, or the clinical director.
