Registered Nurse (RN) – Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health
Location: New York, NYContract Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Hours Per Week: 34.5 Hours
Position Summary
A respected healthcare organization in New York is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support its Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health unit. This opportunity is ideal for a compassionate and clinically skilled behavioral health nurse who thrives in a fast-paced psychiatric care environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care.
The RN will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing services for adult patients experiencing acute mental health conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver direct patient care within an adult inpatient behavioral health setting
- Perform ongoing mental and physical health assessments
- Monitor, document, and report patient status changes accurately
- Administer medications and therapeutic treatments as prescribed
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
- Respond effectively to behavioral crises and psychiatric emergencies
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, and healthcare staff
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Promote patient safety and ensure compliance with facility standards and protocols
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge processes
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) from an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of two (2) years of Behavioral Health nursing experience
- Active New York State RN License
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Strong communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work efficiently in an inpatient psychiatric environment
- Prior experience in adult inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health units
- Knowledge of behavioral health documentation systems and EMR platforms
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and patient advocacy abilities
- Ability to manage high-acuity situations with professionalism and compassion
