Designer - Level II
We are looking for a talented Designer - Level II to join our Engineering team for our CDBS (Cummins Drivetrain and Braking Systems) facility located at Troy, MI.
**In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:**
+ **Advance mechanical design modeling** — Create high‑quality CAD models aligned with Cummins standards to support system‑level analyses such as Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.
+ **Develop robust mechanical systems** — Apply deep mechanical understanding to design innovative, reliable solutions that perform across diverse customer environments and lifecycle stages.
+ **Deliver precise design specifications** — Produce complete solid models, engineering BOMs, and detailed drawings that clearly communicate manufacturing and inspection requirements.
+ **Strengthen product configuration control** — Establish and maintain configuration baselines, manage change requests, and ensure product integrity from concept through obsolescence.
+ **Communicate with clarity and influence** — Tailor technical and non‑technical communication to diverse audiences, ensuring alignment and shared understanding across teams.

**To be successful in this role you will need the following:**
+ **Strong mechanical design skills** — Ability to assist in creating and updating 3D models, engineering drawings, and design documentation for transfer case components and assemblies.
+ **Hands** ‑ **on prototype and design support** — Capacity to support engineers and senior designers with prototype builds, design changes, and product improvement activities for drivetrain systems.
+ **Cross** ‑ **functional collaboration** — Skill in working closely with manufacturing, testing, and quality teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and aligned with project requirements.
+ **Attention to detail and documentation accuracy** — Commitment to maintaining precise, organized, and up‑to‑date design documentation that supports smooth development and production workflows. **Education, Licenses, Certifications:** High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required.Regionally applicable certification or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study may be required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
**Experience:** Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
**Additional Skill, Education, or Experience Requirements**- Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
- Basic proficiency in CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks,
- Understanding of mechanical drawings, dimensions, and basic engineering principles.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and willingness to learn in a professional engineering environment.
- hands-on experience related to automotive or mechanical design.
- Familiarity with GD&T, manufacturing processes, AutoCAD
