Assistant Controller - Construction Management firm

Position Summary
Reporting to the CFO, the Assistant Controller is responsible for managing general ledger accounts, bank account reconciliations, accounts receivable entries, and ensuring compliance and controls are adhered to. In addition, the Assistant Controller shall produce monthly and quarterly financial reports along with any ad hoc reports as requested.
Responsibilities- Assist with management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization.
- Assist with preparations for audits.
- Reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances, including bank and investment statement reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
- Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manage accounts receivable collections.
- Maintain the general ledger.
- Coordinate or assist with the OH budget process.
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger.
- Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Produce and manage balance sheets and analyze future earnings and expenses.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting documents to summarize and forecast the company's financial status.
- Coordinate with and prepare reports for the CFO and upper management.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
- Ensure all accounting practices comply with legal guidelines and established accounting principles.
- Collaborate with the IT department to maintain financial records and system processes.
- Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records.
- Demonstrate accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting knowledge.
- Strong sense of urgency and initiative.
- Understanding of construction operations.
- Knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and procedures.
- Skill in the use of computer software including Microsoft Office and spreadsheets; Timberline skills a plus.
- Demonstrated skills in organizing and evaluating information and proactively finding solutions for construction projects.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Always respect the client and maintain a whatever it takes attitude to addressing client needs.
- Flexibility in assisting other departments as needed to complete special projects.
