Responsibilities:
JOB PURPOSE
This position ensures effective oversight and administration of Indirect Tax for all Pattern entities along with preparation and maintenance of workpapers and estimates with a specific focus on supporting tax technology transformation for Pattern’s Indirect Tax team.In addition, with the Sr. Director, Indirect Tax, this position will liaise across business areas impacted by indirect taxes to ensure effective collaboration and understanding of taxability drivers and mapping requirements between the Vertex tax engine and Oracle ERP.
This role will function as administrator for the Vertex tax engine to ensure mappings stay aligned with Oracle ERP as the organization grows.
Key Accountabilities- Administer indirect tax technology solution (Vertex) including taxability mapping, system configuration, and testing.
- Oversee and manage all tax calendar and filings related to US SUT and Canadian VAT/GST.
- Develop and update processes and controls related to effective indirect tax administration including documentation of key stakeholders across business areas and audit ready workpapers.
- Monitor and analyze indirect tax legislative changes and court case rulings and assess business impacts, translating changes into operational guidance.
- Manage relationships with outside tax compliance and consulting service providers.
- Act as a trusted advisor to cross‑functional stakeholders, including Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Legal, and FP&A.to support organizational objectives and ensure effective indirect tax planning and administration.
- Support Sr. Director with Budgeting, Planning, Forecasting and process improvements.

- Oversee compliance administration related to US and Canadian Property Taxes.
Qualifications:
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
Educational Requirements- A Bachelors degree is required; CMI in Sales Tax preferred
- The minimum of 10+ years of related multi-state indirect tax experience with a national public accounting firm and/or private sector corporate tax department, showing the ability to progressively assume additional responsibilities
- Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environments
- Deep technical knowledge of indirect tax law and compliance, energy production, industrial or manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Indirect tax automation or transformation project experience. (Vertex, Avalara) implemented for sales and purchasing activity.
- Experience researching state and local indirect tax issues, including the ability to analyze the issues and to clearly communicate the conclusions both orally and in writings.
- Familiarity with indirect taxes such as GST, VAT, sales and use, and property tax
- Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or significant business changes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Indirect Tax engine software (Vertex, OneSource Determination), Indirect Tax research software (CCH, etc.)
- ERP systems (Oracle or SAP) hands on, not theoretical.
- Transaction tax la and tax technology knowledge
