Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week travel contract in a rural hospital setting in Kauai, HI, covering inpatient and outpatient care across multiple units.
Details- Works across inpatient (25%) and outpatient (75%) settings, including ER, ICU, Med/Surg (acute, observation, and SNF), occasional OB, and a hospital-based outpatient PT clinic
- Patient volume ranges from 5 to 15 patients per day, with appointments scheduled every 30–45 minutes and one hour allotted for new evaluations
- Inpatient responsibilities include acute to SNF mobility progression and discharge planning; outpatient responsibilities cover a broad range of diagnoses
- Primary shift is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with a 1-hour lunch break; flexibility in work hours may be required
- Saturday availability is required — no exceptions
- Two-day orientation: Day 1 covers HR onboarding, safety, risk and quality management, and IT; Day 2 is focused on EMR training
- Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience required
- Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings required, including ICU, acute care, SNF, and outpatient
- Active Hawaii PT license required — candidates should obtain licensure as soon as possible if not already held; license required if applicable
- Current BLS/BCLS certification required
- Ability to practice independently in a rural setting with a comprehensive, thorough approach to patient care
- Knowledge of discharge planning and inpatient mobility progression
- Primary duties include PT evaluations and treatments across a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient diagnoses
- Rural setting in Kauai demands a high level of clinical independence and adaptability
- COVID-19 vaccination not required for this position
- Orientation consists of 2 days of on-site training beginning at 10:00 AM on Day 1
