Campus United Coordinator (Part-time)
Pacific Mountain and Chinook Winds Regional Councils are seeking an individual to fill the role of Campus United Coordinator on a three (3) year term at half-time basis (17.5 hours per week).
The Pacific Mountain and Chinook Winds Regional Councils as part of the wider United Church of Canada (UCC), serve British Columbia, Southern and Central Alberta and the Yukon and supports over 300 congregations and communities of faith, and numerous other ministries including camps, social service agencies, youth and young adult work, leadership development, new ministry initiatives, property development, affordable housing and care facilities, chaplaincies and educational centres.
We focus on providing services that assist Communities of Faith by maintaining good relationships between congregations and personnel. We also provide staff, finances, advice, advocacy, and program resources to ministries to enhance their work.The Regions also support the work of General Council.
Campus United is a network of campus ministries in Pacific Mountain and Chinook Winds Regions of The United Church of Canada, rooted in post‑secondary campuses and surrounding communities of faith. Campus United is a lived expression of First Third Ministry within post‑secondary contexts, cultivating spaces of radical welcome where young adults are known, loved, and invited into life‑giving community.Through relationships, spiritual exploration, and justice‑seeking rooted in the way of Jesus, Campus United partners with communities of faith to embody First Third Ministry’s purpose among young people
The Campus United Ministry Coordinator strengthens and supports campus ministry across the Chinook Winds and Pacific Mountain Regional Councils as an expression of First Third Ministry. They support existing Campus United sites, equip Communities of Faith to engage nearby post‑secondary institutions, oversee the Campus United Community Connector student leadership program, and provide support for fundraising and grant writing. Through clear communications, digital storytelling and relationship‑building they foster belonging, spiritual exploration, justice, and community among students and young adults, in alignment with the values of First Third Ministry.. The main areas of focus are:
- Build New Expressions of Campus United through Communities of Faith -
- Coordinate Campus United Community Connector Student Leadership Program
- Support and strengthen existing Campus United Ministry sites
- Communication, Storytelling and Promotion
Occasional attendance at evening and weekend meetings, with due notice, will be required. Most years overnight attendance at the two region’s four-day General Meeting is required. This position is required at the yearly Campus United Community Connector Training (in person, residential) in late June through early July.
Advance notice will be provided so flexibility is required.
The incumbent will be provided, for work purposes, use of secure devices and must be available by email, phone, teams or zoom during regular office hours Monday to Friday. Sitting and viewing a computer screen for long periods, keyboarding/using assistive devices or technologies, intermittent physical activity including sitting, standing and being on a call for long periods of time will be required.Occasional additional hours may be required.
Qualifications- Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and life experience plus 2 - 3 years of related work experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities, including knowledge of cultural norms and protocols;
- Ability to apply trauma-informed practices in ministry and engagement settings and strong understanding of intercultural ministry, anti-racism, and reconciliation and experience in community-based research or participatory engagement;
- Familiarity with The United Church of Canada’s structure, values, and commitments;
- Ability to articulate the vision of Campus United in meaningful and inspiring ways plus ability to discern what is essential to communicate, and to draw out significant human and spiritual dimensions from people and events as a means of effective communication;
- Solid planning and organizational skills completing multiple tasks on time, together with flexibility to deal with changing situations or priorities;
- A skilled listener with strong verbal, written communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
- Strong computer skills in the use of various software applications - Microsoft 365, Dynamics, SharePoint, One Drive, Teams, Zoom, and other social media and online platforms;
- Experience updating and maintaining websites, adding new content and update existing content as needed; Experience writing and posting web content;
- Understanding of and ability with communication and social media tools; web design or graphic design abilities are assets;
- Experience in training/coaching, leadership development in working with young adults and experience in facilitating community building and fostering a collaborative work ethic amongst a team; and solid event planning experience;
- Commitment to confidentiality and appropriate boundaries at all times; and expectation of a personal spiritual life and openness to faith conversations.

Compensation
Salary will be based on skills and experience, within the category 5 position pro-rated salary range of $28,740 to $32,755. Pension and group benefit plans coverage and annual vacation round out this compensation package.
