Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Migration Architect to lead enterprise infrastructure modernization initiatives focused on reducing dependency on VMware and transitioning to cloud-native or hybrid-cloud environments. This role plays a key part in driving cost optimization, scalability, and long-term platform flexibility.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in VMware environments and cloud migration strategies, with the ability to design and execute transformation roadmaps that ensure stability, security, and business continuity.
Responsibilities- Assess existing VMware-based environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, storage, networking, and licensing structures)
- Develop migration strategies including rehost, replatform, refactor, containerize, retire, or retain approaches
- Create detailed migration roadmaps considering application dependencies, business criticality, and risk factors
- Evaluate and recommend alternatives such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Nutanix, or hybrid solutions
- Partner with infrastructure, security, finance, and application teams to balance cost savings and operational stability
- Lead workload discovery, dependency mapping, and technical readiness assessments
- Define target-state architecture across compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, and disaster recovery
- Guide migration execution, troubleshoot issues, and validate post-migration performance
- Strong experience leading enterprise cloud migration or infrastructure modernization programs
- Deep expertise in VMware technologies (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX)
- Experience designing migration paths to cloud and container platforms
- Strong understanding of application dependency mapping and migration planning
- Experience with cloud cost modeling, licensing analysis, and TCO optimization
- Familiarity with enterprise security, networking, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical teams and executive stakeholders
- Proven experience leading or designing a VMware exit strategy
- Strong understanding of financial and operational impacts of VMware licensing vs. cloud alternatives
- Ability to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions
- Experience managing large-scale, business-critical migrations
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or VMware
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)
- Remote / Hybrid flexibility
