Business Development Manager
Job Summary
The Business Development Manager leads business development initiatives for the company, including the planning and execution of strategies to secure new work within assigned construction market sectors. This role supports the organization’s business development plan by identifying, pursuing, and cultivating relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and other key industry stakeholders across the markets we serve.
Working closely with operations leadership, the Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic business development objectives that support the company’s overall growth strategy, positioning the organization for future opportunities and successful project pursuits.

(BCI) in the industry and community by attending industry events, conferences, and networking functions to build relationships and new connections, drive brand recognition, gather market intelligence, assess market sentiment, inform pursuit strategies, and maintain a professional online presence aligned with BCI’s brand and values.
- Attend events and conferences for assigned markets to gather intelligence on market conditions and upcoming opportunities, establish key connections that generate or facilitate direct leads, and track leads and follow-up activities in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Strategize on which events to participate in and in what capacity by evaluating opportunities to engage as a sponsor, exhibitor, panelist, or attendee; interfacing with current and prospective clients; staffing exhibit booths; tailoring sponsorship branding to target audiences; preparing for panel discussions; and creating and managing business development budgets for each market and office.
- Educate the market on BCI services through activities or hosted events, such as planning and coordinating company-hosted engagements, identifying target audiences, and/or facilitating partnership opportunities with clients and industry stakeholders.
- Partner with Marketing on the development of collateral by supporting the creation of physical and digital brochures, seminar presentations, and marketing campaigns based on industry and market trends, identifying opportunities for targeted marketing strategies, and contributing content for social media and other communication channels.
- Partner with the Proposal Team on prequalification, RFIs/RFPs, and interviews by identifying BCI differentiators aligned with client needs, providing strategic insights during interview preparation, and attending project interviews to ensure alignment between the client, pursuit strategy, and project team.
- Partner with Preconstruction and Executive Managers by gathering rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost information for client presentations, attending job and site walks, and supporting pursuit decisions with project-specific intelligence.
- Partner with Operations in the client interview process by helping prep teams, tailor presentations to address client pain needs, and showcase BCI’s expertise to secure new projects.
- Manage business development leads and opportunities by tracking activities, leads, opportunities, and market insights in the CRM; meeting with project teams to discuss lead progression and industry trends; leveraging internal resources to pursue new opportunities; identifying decision-makers within target organizations; and facilitating the transition of leads into qualified opportunities.
- Develop annual budgets in collaboration with Executive Managers for each market, covering conference participation, sponsorships, entertainment, travel, and other related expenses. Maintain accountability for adhering to these budgets and monitor performance against them throughout the year.
- Conduct research and analysis of the market by developing recommendations and rationale for business development activities and budgets, creating projections in support of the organization’s business plan, and reporting business development activities and progress to executive leadership.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, prospective clients, the AEC community, and community leaders by demonstrating knowledge of BCI services to instill client confidence, customizing relationship-building approaches based on client needs and preferences, and identifying in-person and virtual opportunities to connect and engage.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, working inside with others or independently. This role requires the ability to work well under pressure and rigid deadlines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Ability to travel to any location where Bryan Construction conducts business, currently or in the future. Work may require occasional weekend and evening work, including U.S. travel for meetings, events, etc.
Required Education and Experience- Extensive sales/marketing or business development experience
- Experience working in A/E/C
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
- Experience using CRM software
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience working with senior-level leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Professional Selling, or Business Administration
- 5+ years sales/marketing or business development experience
- Established A/E/C network for the markets where BCI does business
- Experience developing and leading presentations
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint
- Spanish bi-lingual
- Event planning experience
**Drug Screening and Background Investigation Required**
Salary Range: $105,000-$140,000
