Function/Duties of Position:
Research scientist responsible for designing and performing experimental protocols that generate publication quality data. Skills related to immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy, and a background in animal research work and/or immunology are preferred.
Expertise with PCR and animal handling are also desired. Additional responsibilities include training new staff and interns on protocols and procedures. Highly motivated individuals with strong verbal and written communication skills, an interest working in a collaborative team environment, and who utilize innovative problem-solving to achieve scientific objectives are encouraged to apply.
Position offers future opportunities for scientific collaboration, primary research, and manuscript authorship. The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine provides expert care for patients with lung diseases and critically ill patients in our Intensive Care Units.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree (4 yr) with major courses in field of research AND 1 year of relevant experience OR
• equivalent combination or training and experience
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time in a fast-moving environment.
• Excellent communication skills are essential, as are analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology, and/or neurobiology
• Immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR, flow cytometry, and/or confocal microscopy.
• Handling and working with laboratory animals.
• Lab record keeping.
