COMPANY OVERVIEW: Our client is an industrial supplier, a regional distributor, privately owned Texas business with a primary focus on serving petrochemical, refinery, shipbuilding, welding fabrication, paper mill, marine, steel production, and several other industrial markets in the Houston area, Southeast Texas, and Southwest Louisiana region.

POSITION TITLE: Data Center Estimator
COMPENSATION: Competitive salary + DOE

LOCATION: Houston, Texas

SUMMARY: The Data Center Estimator is responsible for utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools, construction documents, and estimating software to develop accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and constructability insights during the pre-construction phase.

This role serves as a critical link between design, estimating, and construction teams to support competitive bids, cost certainty, and efficient project execution.

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop detailed quantity takeoffs using BIM models, 2D drawings, and project specifications.

Translate model data into accurate labor, material, and equipment cost estimates. Verify model completeness and identify scope gaps or inconsistencies.

Support estimating efforts throughout all project phases, from conceptual through construction documents
Prepare conceptual and detailed estimates using data and historical cost information.
Assist with bid preparation, value engineering, alternates, and change order pricing.

Track and reconcile BIM quantities against traditional takeoffs to ensure accuracy.

Collaboration & Coordination
Work closely with Pre-Construction, Project Management, Engineering, and Field teams.
Participate in design coordination meetings, clash detection reviews, and constructability discussions.
Communicate estimating assumptions, risks, exclusions, and clarifications clearly and effectively.

Identify discrepancies between models, drawings, and specifications.

Support continuous improvement of BIM standards, workflows, and estimating
practices.
Maintain organized estimating files, takeoff documentation, and cost databases. Prepare estimate summaries, scope narratives, and backup documentation for leadership review.

Participate in post-bid and post-project reviews to improve estimating accuracy.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience

3 years of experience in construction estimating and/or BIM based takeoffs
Proficiency with BIM and estimating software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, estimating platforms).
Strong Proficiency with Navisworks Simulate/Manage
Strong understanding of construction means, methods and sequencing
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
