IT Project Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES: Kforce has a client seeking an IT Project Manager for a 6 month, remote role.
Summary:We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead a critical database migration workstream within a broader data center exit and cloud modernization initiative. This role will focus on coordinating the migration of mission-critical production data and database infrastructure into a modern AWS environment.
This individual will partner closely with engineering, application teams, and program leadership to ensure data readiness, drive migration planning, and manage execution across multiple database environments. This is a highly visible role responsible for ensuring data integrity, minimizing risk, and enabling a seamless transition to the target cloud architecture.
Responsibilities:- Lead database migration readiness across multiple applications and data platforms, ensuring alignment with overall program timelines
- Drive completion of database discovery and baseline assessments, including performance metrics, inventory, and replication configurations
- Oversee compatibility assessments using schema conversion and migration tools; track remediation efforts and associated risks
- Coordinate resolution of application-level dependencies, including connection handling and pooling conflicts
- Manage and maintain migration wave planning, including readiness tracking and prioritization of early migration candidates
- Partner with application teams to drive testing, readiness, and cutover preparation; identify and escalate resource or dependency constraints
- Database compatibility and schema conversion risks across complex environments
- Application and engineering resource constraints impacting migration timelines
- Architecture misalignment between legacy systems and target cloud state
- Data integrity and validation throughout migration and decommissioning processes
- 6+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager, Project Manager, or related role supporting infrastructure or data initiatives
- Proven experience managing large-scale database or application migrations in enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of relational databases, replication strategies, and performance considerations
- Experience working with cloud environments (AWS preferred), including core infrastructure concepts such as networking and security
- Familiarity with tools such as AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and schema conversion frameworks
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing parallel workstreams in complex environments
- Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational database platforms
- Background in financial services or regulated environments (PCI, compliance-driven organizations)
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code practices and modern cloud-native architectures
- Strong ability to interpret database performance metrics, capacity planning, and optimization strategies
- Successful execution of database migration waves with minimal disruption
- Clear visibility into readiness, risks, and dependencies across all workstreams
- Validated data integrity and performance in the target AWS environment
- On-time decommissioning of legacy systems following successful migration

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs.This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law.Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
