About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Data Migration Specialist with deep hands-on expertise in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) and SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS). You will own end-to-end migration for a large-scale SAP EWM implementation-spanning strategy, planning, ETL build, data quality, cycle testing, and cutover-while partnering closely with functional, technical, and business teams to ensure a secure, compliant, and first-time-right data transition.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning- Define the data migration strategy, methodology, and detailed migration plan for SAP EWM.
- Identify data migration risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans; maintain a clear RAID log.
- Establish migration standards, naming conventions, and governance for mappings, rules, and documentation.
- Design, develop, and optimize BODS ETL jobs for extraction, transformation, and loading of EWM-related data objects (e.g., warehouse master, bin/slotting, handling units, stock, inbound/outbound deliveries).
- Build reusable components, workflows, and data quality (DQ) rules in BODS; implement robust error handling, logging, restart/recovery, and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with ABAP and integration teams to align IDocs/BAPIs/API interfaces and staging strategies.
- Lead data profiling, gap analysis, de-duplication, standardization, and DQ remediation across legacy systems.
- Work with business SMEs to validate legacy data, coordinate cleansing activities, and sign-off rules/thresholds.
- Maintain mapping documents, transformation rules, migration design documents, test cases, and test evidence.
- Plan and execute cycle testing, mock loads, and dress rehearsals to validate volume, performance, and reconciliation.
- Drive mock/cutover/production loads using BODS, LTMC, LTMOM, and/or custom load utilities; own reconciliation and defect triage.
- Define and track conversion KPIs (load success %, DQ score, reconciliation variance, throughput, defect leakage).
- Ensure adherence to data governance, audit, and security standards (PII/PHI handling, SoD, access controls).
- Partner closely with SAP EWM functional consultants, BASIS, ABAP developers, business SMEs, and project/program managers to align milestones and deliverables.
- Provide clear status, risk/issue updates, and cutover readiness reports to leadership.
- 5-8+ years in data migration/ETL, including hands-on SAP BODS experience building complex jobs at scale.
- Strong SAP EWM data object knowledge and load techniques (master & transactional).
- End-to-end ownership of ETL/ELT: extraction, transformation, cleansing, validation, loading, and reconciliation.
- Expertise with LTMC/LTMOM and SAP load mechanisms; familiarity with IDocs/BAPIs and staging patterns.
- Proven data quality practices: profiling, standardization, de-duplication, rule design, and exception handling.
- Solid SQL skills and performance tuning for large datasets.
- Experience executing cycle tests, mock runs, and cutovers in fast-paced SAP programs.
- Strong Agile ways of working, documentation rigor, and stakeholder communication.
- Exposure to pharma/medical devices or highly regulated environments (GxP, CSV).
- Knowledge of adjacent SAP modules (MM, SD, TM) and integration to EWM.
- Experience with S/4HANA data structures and MDG for master data governance.
- Scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Shell) and job orchestration (e.g., Control-M, AutoSys).
- Understanding of data security & privacy standards (HIPAA, GDPR) and audit evidence management.
