Job Details – Progressive Care Unit RN (PCU RN) / Travel Nurse- Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (North Carolina travel nursing)
- Setting: Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) – 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit (Cardiac Stepdown Nurse)
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse, PCU RN)
- Start Date: March 9, 2026
- End Date: June 8, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Floating: May float to other stepdown or med-surg units as needed (flexible PCU/med-surg experience valued)
- Current, active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (Registered Nurse)
- Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown, PCU, or telemetry RN experience required
- Telemetry experience required (Telemetry RN, Cardiac Stepdown)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Experience with cardiovascular or vascular surgery populations preferred (open-heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass)
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred (electronic medical record proficiency)
- Team-oriented, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast-paced PCU/cardiac stepdown environment
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from cardiovascular and vascular surgeries as a PCU Registered Nurse
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and respond promptly to changes in patient condition (Telemetry RN responsibilities)
- Manage chest tubes, epidurals, tube feedings, and IV infusions, including vasoactive drips and cardiac medications (e.g., phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, diltiazem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—surgeons, cardiologists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and case management—to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Document care and interventions accurately in Cerner EMR (electronic charting for travel nurses)
- Float to other units as needed while maintaining safe patient ratios and quality care
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and dress code (navy or white scrubs)
