Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of experience and a WV or Compact RN license.
Details- >Bed medical surgical unit with telemetry capabilities
- Patient ratios of 1:5-7
- Night shift schedule of 4x12 or 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
- Schedule includes weekdays and weekends, with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 13-week contract length with possible extension
- Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- BLS and ACLS must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from the past 2 years required
- Experience with respiratory care skills such as BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, and oxygen administration preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, central line care, and PICC line management preferred
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry remote monitoring required
- Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE required
- Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred
- Care for medical-surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring
- Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed
- Provide care for patients with renal failure, CVA, and other complex medical conditions
- No scrubs are provided
- Candidates must have a permanent address more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the same rate
- Facility expects minimal call-offs (2-3 per contract) due to attendance concerns
- Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last permanent employment date before returning as a traveler
- Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the health system
- Travel experience is not required, making this position suitable for first-time travelers
- Orientation is held every other Monday
- Non-billable EMR training modules must be completed prior to start date, averaging 8 hours to complete
