Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

The Accountant for our Mission Support Center (MSC) Team at the Archdiocese of Denver works as an extension of the schools or parishes, while providing excellent client service, delivering top-tier accounting services, and collaborating within the team.
They will work directly with pastors and principals in up to 5 schools or parishes and collaborate with the Parish Finance team at the Pastoral Center, ensuring parishes receive high-quality, operational support. Our Accountant will support parishes and schools from Louisville in the south to Fort Collins in the north, with Longmont as our centralized work location.

On our Mission Support Center Team, you will play a key role in building up the Kingdom of Heaven by proclaiming the Gospel and saving souls.

Key Responsibilities

Payment, Deposit, and Cash Management: Ensure timely and accurate payment of bills, post deposits, and manage Accounts Receivable/Payable functions to maintain cash flow and financial accountability, while overseeing cash flow and investment activities to ensure proper documentation and adherence to policies.

Journal Entries, Account Reconciliation, and Period-End Closing: Create and post journal entries in compliance with accounting standards, reconcile accounts regularly, and execute month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure financial integrity and smooth period-end closings, while generating and delivering accurate financial reports for leadership as needed.

Tax, Compliance, and Fixed Assets Management: Review and reconcile quarterly retirement plan contributions for accuracy and compliance, reconcile Forms 941, W-2, and W-3, prepare and distribute annual 1099 Forms, and maintain detailed and accurate records of fixed assets, including tracking depreciation and asset lifecycle management.

What We're Looking For

Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043)
Align with the values and mission of the Catholic Church.
Associates Degree or higher in accounting preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience, including accounts payable, journal entries, and reconciliation.
Handle sensitive financial information with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, while prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently in fast-paced environments to meet deadlines and objectives
Adaptable and proactive, thrive in dynamic environments, applying solution-driven approaches to meet evolving challenges. Leverage business acumen, creativity, and GAAP expertise to address financial and operational issues effectively.

Communicate clearly and effectively in written, verbal, and presentation formats, ensuring accurate documentation and timely project updates. Highly organized and detail-oriented, manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining financial accuracy.
