About Our Client
Our client is an established commercial General Contractor looking for a skilled Chief Estimator.
Job Description- Lead and manage all estimating and preconstruction efforts for ground-up commercial projects ($30MM+)
- Develop conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP-level cost estimates
- Oversee bid strategy, scope reviews, subcontractor outreach, bid leveling, and buyout support
- Mentor, manage, and develop estimators and preconstruction staff
- Collaborate with executives, project management, and business development teams on go/no-go decisions
- Evaluate drawings, specifications, constructability, logistics, and schedule impacts
- Establish and maintain estimating standards, procedures, and historical cost databases
- Identify cost risks, value engineering options, and cost-saving strategies
- Lead preconstruction meetings with owners, architects, and consultants
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners
- Support project transitions from preconstruction to operations

The Successful Applicant
Preferred Project Experience- Ground-up commercial construction such as:
- Office / mixed-use
- Healthcare
- Higher education
- Hospitality
- Life sciences
- Industrial / distribution
- Complex urban or suburban sites
- Multi-phase or accelerated schedules
- Qualifications
- 15+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience with a commercial GC
- 5+ years in a senior or leadership estimating role
- Proven track record on ground-up projects valued at $30M+
- Strong understanding of local subcontractor market on Long Island and NYC metro area
- Expertise in conceptual estimating and cost modeling
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Sage, WinEst, ProEst, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam)
- Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
