Travel Echo Technologist

Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 14 weeks, with possibility of extension
Schedule: 8-hour shifts
Shift Options: Monday–Friday, Tuesday–Saturday, Sunday–Thursday, or rotating days

Start Time: Flexible start between 7:00 AM–10:00 AM

Work Locations: May rotate between multiple nearby echocardiography locations.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Travel Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer to perform diagnostic echocardiography examinations on adult and geriatric patients. Under the supervision of cardiologists and according to established technical standards, the Echo Technologist will obtain high-quality images of the heart and related structures for physician interpretation.

The ideal candidate will have strong echocardiography skills, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and current RDCS or RCS and BLS credentials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain relevant patient history and clinical information.
  • Position patients appropriately and select the appropriate ultrasound techniques to obtain diagnostic-quality echocardiographic images.
  • Perform:
  • 2-D echocardiography
  • M-Mode
  • Pulsed-Wave Doppler
  • Continuous-Wave Doppler
  • Color Doppler
  • Prepare preliminary interpretations when required.
  • Perform emergency echocardiography studies as needed.
  • Assist cardiologists with diagnostic examinations and specialized ultrasound procedures.
  • Assist with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures performed in the outpatient setting.
  • Maintain accurate echocardiography lab records and patient charges.
  • Follow established echocardiography protocols and accreditation standards.
  • Support quality assurance activities and participate in required QA meetings.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment records and monitoring ultrasound equipment.
  • Support digital reporting systems and communicate technical issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure examination rooms and equipment are cleaned, disinfected, and properly restocked after each patient and at the end of the day.
  • Assess and respond appropriately to patients' age-specific, physical, psychosocial, and clinical needs.
  • Modify the approach to patient care based on patient condition, limitations, and non-verbal responses.
  • Participate in required education, in-services, continuing education, and accreditation activities.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable clinical, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide compassionate, respectful, and professional service to patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 1–2 years of previous Echocardiography experience required.
  • One of the following credentials:
  • RDCS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS)
  • RCS – Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI)
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • All certifications and registrations must remain active and current throughout the assignment.
  • Strong knowledge of adult and geriatric echocardiography.
  • Proficiency with 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and Color Doppler imaging.
  • Experience assisting with specialized cardiac ultrasound procedures preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with TEE procedures.
  • Experience with echocardiography quality assurance and accreditation requirements.
  • Familiarity with ICAEL/accreditation protocols.
  • Experience with digital echocardiography reporting systems.
  • Experience maintaining echo lab records and equipment documentation.
